The Perfect Escape
A weekend away with your girls may be more fun than a staycation. We know that traveling for just a few days may not be possible so we created a list of recommendations in your local area. Below are some cities that we think would make great memories.
New England, Boston, Massachusetts
Boston is the perfect mix of historic America and modern-day USA. You can take a step back in time by exploring the Freedom Trail, and seeing important landmarks from America’s Revolution. Are you interested in Rituals of Passage? Fenway Park is a great place to go for a tour and a game. It will make you feel like a local. From cuisine to art, the culture is rich. Enjoy a stroll through the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA), and then indulge in one of Boston’s most popular foods, the lobster roll. One trip may not be enough. There are so many things to see and do.
Middle Atlantic, New York City, New York
The Big Apple. The City that Never Sleeps. The Center of the Universe. These are all great names, but they don’t even cover everything there is to discover. Architecture shows the diversity of cultures that have influenced it. Every corner is a new culinary or nightlife experience. The Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) houses collections from over 5,000 years across the globe. Broadway, Times Square and Central Park are just a few of the many sights you can see. Do yourself and your girls a favor, and enjoy the best New York City has to offer.
East North Central, Chicago, Illinois
For those perfect moments, the Windy City is the ideal destination. Standing on the Willis Tower’s top floor, above the transparent skydeck, will help you conquer your fear of heights. A reflective view of you and the Bean skyline can be taken. You can enjoy live music and beautiful scenery at the Chicago Riverwalk. For a complete shopping experience, check out the Magnificent Mile’s 13-block stretch. Create unforgettable memories that everyone will envy you for your vacation.
West North Central, St. Louis, Missouri
Tell your friends to “Meet You In St. Louis” for an unforgettable experience. To see many attractions and the Saint Louis Zoo, take a stroll through Forest Park. Take a camera with you to the Missouri Botanical Garden to capture stunning views and photos. Enjoy a drink at the bar and relax on leather couches or loveseats in the single-screen movie theater, Moolah Theater and Lounge. You can take a tram to the top and enjoy stunning views of both Missouri and Illinois from the top. For those who find the architecture and landscape too exciting, you can visit the Anheuser-Busch St. Louis Brewery to take a tour of one the oldest American breweries.
South Atlantic, Savannah, Georgia
Savannah is a city that exudes southern charm like no other. You would be hard-pressed to find a better place than the Historic District. Forsyth Park is home to cascading trees which provide shade for the farmer’s market as well as open-air concerts. The City Market is an open-air market that covers four blocks and features beautiful art, great food and amazing shopping. Savannah Slow Ride is a great way to see all of Savannah. Savannah Slow Ride offers eco-friendly tours that range from a pub crawl to a haunted tour on 15 person bikes. The beach Tybee Island, which is just twenty minutes from the city, offers a tranquil escape to beautiful nature.
East South Central, Nashville, Tennessee
Nashville’s rich history and culture is perfectly described by the name “Music City”. The city is home to some of America’s most famous music artists, such as Johnny Cash. Visit the Johnny Cash Museum and the Country Music Hall of Fame to explore music through the ages. Take a backstage tour at the Grand Ole Opry to experience what it is like to be a country star. There are over forty whiskey distilleries and craft beer breweries in the Grand Ole Opry, so there is something for everyone.
West South Central, New Orleans, Louisiana
Although Mardi Gras is the most popular celebration in NOLA, “Laissez les bon temps rouler” is a famous NOLA quote. However, good times can be had all year. You can explore the French Quarter, Jackson Square and other areas to discover what makes New Orleans unique. As you walk along the streets of New Orleans, you will see street performers and artisans at work. You’ll also be surrounded by vibrant colors and beautiful architecture. As the music bars and restaurants bring the city to life, you can see it transform at night on Bourbon Street. To understand why New Orleans is known as the birthplace for jazz, walk over to Frenchman Street to visit one of the many venues. Cafe du Monde is open 24 hours a day, offering you access to their famous beignets around the clock.
Mountain Division, Las Vegas, Nevada
Las Vegas isn’t for the faint-hearted. It has earned the nickname “Sin City”, which is fitting. It is fun to try your luck at the casino, but there are many other things you can do in the region. You can make time to visit Mirage and Treasure Island, Bellagio and Luxor or any of the other venues that offer spectacular shows. Enjoy an open bar and a spectacular view from the highest observation wheel in the world by getting on the High Roller. You’ll be stuffed with endless Las Vegas buffets that your stomach and mouth will thank you. You can take a day trip out to Red Rock Canyon National Park or Death Valley National Park if the lights, music and ambiance get too overwhelming.
Pacific Division, Napa Valley (Wine Country), California
Napa Valley is the perfect place to indulge in a relaxing vacation. You will find many wineries, Michelin-starred restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and other establishments throughout the region. You can take a tour at one of the wineries and distilleries to see the entire process, as well as sample a few wines along the way. You can unwind at the spas and feel refreshed. You have plenty of travel options and exploration opportunities with Sacramento and San Francisco only a short drive away.
